Measurement System Analysis (MSA) for Beginners 20[M] Ed.

Group: Tools
Length: 90 days
CEUs*: 0.7
Tuition: $159.00
*CEU = Continuing Education Unit

Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) is a method to understand the error associated with measurement systems and their impact on making correct decisions. The knowledge gained in this class can be used to setup or audit a MSA program or instrument laboratory. Knowledge gained can be used to improve decision making regarding test or inspection equipment. This is a beginner class that provides basic, easy-to-understand technical information that you need to address ISO/TS 16949, laboratory and quality system standard requirements. The class starts with describing measurement error and then guides you in a step-by-step manner to conduct or evaluate your own Bias, Linearity and Stability studies. The class ends with how you can determine your gauge R&R (repeatability and reproducibility). You will be able to gage the extent of variation and the source of variation. The class includes examples of Linearity, Bias, Stability studies and tools such as an excel spreadsheet to record and determine Gauge R&R for attribute and variables data. A student textbook/ Desk Reference is provided. The class consists of a series of lessons, illustrations, diagrams, interactive exercises and quizzes. Successful completion of the class will result in a certificate for 7 contact hours (0.7 CEU’s). The subscription period for the class is 90 days (plus a free 30-day subscription extension, if needed).

Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain measurement concepts and fundamental analysis
  • Analyze variation error in measurement results
  • Perform Bias, Linearity and Stability studies
  • Perform GR&R studies
  • Apply techniques to attribute and variables data
